IMD issues heavy rainfall, thunderstorm warnings for Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several districts of Odisha over the next few days, with some areas likely to experience intense weather conditions.
For August 26, a Yellow Warning has been issued for heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sambalpur districts. No weather warning has been issued for August 27.
On August 28, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, for which a Yellow Warning has been issued. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may also occur in several districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
An Orange Warning has been issued for August 29 for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. A Yellow Warning is in place for heavy rainfall in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
On August 30, an Orange Warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Balasore, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Heavy rainfall is also likely in several other districts, including Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also likely across several districts on August 30. The IMD has advised residents to remain alert and follow local weather advisories during periods of severe weather.
