Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: Odia film producer Sanjay Nayak, known as Tutu Nayak, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting and behaving inappropriately towards a female journalist on Friday.

The Kharavela Nagar police acted in response to a complaint filed by the journalist, Debasmita Rout, as confirmed by DCP Prateek Singh.

Nayak is facing charges under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 341, 323, 294, and 354. It is worth noting that Tutu Nayak reportedly slapped Debasmita in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

On that day, Rout accused Sanjay of slapping and mistreating her while she was covering the release of the new film 'Pratha' at the Sriya-Swati Talkies in the city. Meanwhile, the State Commission for Women has initiated an inquiry into the alleged misconduct by the Odia film producer.

Taking suo moto cognizance of the incident, the Commission has requested the Commissionerate Police to provide an investigation report within 15 days.
