Sanjeeb Panda, YK Jethwa promoted to DGP grade
Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers Sanjeeb Panda and Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa have been promoted to the grade of Director General of Police (DGP), following approval of the promotion proposal by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday.
The elevation marks a significant advancement in the careers of the two senior police officers, who have held several important responsibilities in the state police and administration during their respective services.
The state government approved the promotion of Panda and Jethwa to the DGP grade as part of its latest exercise to elevate eligible senior IPS officers. Their promotions are expected to take effect in accordance with the applicable government orders and service rules.
The move is likely to strengthen the senior leadership structure of the Odisha Police and provide the officers with greater responsibilities in policy formulation, administration and policing.
Both officers have served in various key positions and have contributed to law enforcement and policing in Odisha over the years. Their elevation comes at a time when the state police administration is focusing on strengthening its organisational framework and improving policing mechanisms.
The promotions will formally come into force following issuance of the necessary government orders and notifications, officials said. Further details regarding their new assignments, if any, are expected to be announced separately by the state government.
