Three arrested within 24 hours in Kalahandi BJP leader Fakir Rana murder case
Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: Kalahandi Police have arrested three persons within 24 hours in connection with the murder of BJP leader Fakir Rana, the husband of the Sarpanch of Karlakhunta village under Madanpur Rampur police station limits. The swift action followed an intensive investigation launched immediately after the incident was reported.
According to the police, the murder was allegedly the outcome of long-standing personal enmity between the deceased and the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that Fakir Rana was involved in a heated argument with the accused at around 8.30 pm on August 5.
Police said the verbal altercation soon turned violent, with the accused allegedly assaulting Rana as a group. He sustained critical injuries during the attack and later succumbed, triggering widespread outrage in the locality.
Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Nagaraj Devarakonda said multiple police teams were formed soon after the incident came to light. Simultaneous raids were conducted at different locations, leading to the arrest of all three accused named in the FIR within 24 hours.
The SP said the prompt arrests were made possible through coordinated efforts and technical investigation. He added that the accused are being interrogated to establish the complete sequence of events and identify any additional persons who may have been involved in the crime.
Police have initiated further legal proceedings against the arrested persons, while the investigation remains underway to uncover all aspects of the murder. Authorities said they are collecting additional evidence and recording witness statements to ensure a thorough and fair investigation into the high-profile killing.
