SJTA files FIR over fake VIP Darshan advertisement at Puri Jagannath Temple
Bhubaneswar, July 20: The Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) has lodged an FIR against a misleading advertisement that allegedly offered paid VIP darshan of Lord Jagannath at the Puri temple. The administration has termed the promotion fraudulent and warned devotees against falling victim to such deceptive claims.
In a formal complaint submitted to the Inspector-in-Charge of Singhadwara Police Station on July 19, the SJTA clarified that the Shree Jagannath Temple does not permit VIP darshan in exchange for money. It further stated that no individual, agency or organisation has been authorised to provide any such special facility on behalf of the temple administration.
The complaint specifically referred to an advertisement circulated by an entity identified as ‘eoOdisha’, which promoted a service called “MyEO Jagannath Dham Concierge Service.” The advertisement allegedly claimed to provide special VIP darshan arrangements for devotees visiting the temple.
According to the SJTA, the claims made in the advertisement are completely false and appear to have been designed to mislead and financially exploit unsuspecting devotees. The administration expressed concern that such misinformation could create confusion among pilgrims and damage the sanctity of temple procedures.
In the complaint signed by Hemanta Kumar Padhi, OSD (Security), SJTA, the administration reiterated that there is no provision for paid VIP darshan inside the temple premises. Devotees have been advised to rely only on official announcements and authorised sources for information related to darshan and temple services.
Police have registered a case based on the complaint and launched an investigation into the matter. Authorities are working to identify those responsible for circulating the misleading advertisement and take appropriate legal action against them.
