Odisha revises UG admission schedule for 2026–27; first-year classes to begin on July 27
Bhubaneswar, July 8: The Odisha Government's Higher Education Department has revised the admission schedule for undergraduate (+3) courses for the 2026–27 academic session under the Student Academic Management System (SAMS). As per the updated timeline, first-year classes across colleges in the State will commence on July 27.
According to the revised schedule issued on Wednesday, students who have already applied under the Phase-I admission process will be allowed to reopen and modify their college and subject preferences on the SAMS portal from 2 pm on July 8 to 11.45 pm on July 12. The facility has been introduced to enable applicants to review and update their choices before the next phase of seat allotment.
The department has also introduced a programme category selection option after OTP verification. Candidates must choose between Regular Mode Programmes, Self-Financing Mode Programmes, or opt for both while finalising their preferences.
Students admitted under the Regular Mode category will continue to benefit from the State Government's Fee Waiver Scheme, under which no admission fee is required. However, candidates opting for Self-Financing courses will have to pay the prescribed admission charges.
The department clarified that students who had earlier secured seats under the Regular Mode and deposited admission fees will receive refunds in their registered bank accounts after completion of the Phase-I admission process, subject to attendance norms.
As per the revised calendar, the second-round provisional allotment will be published on July 20, followed by admissions from July 21 to July 23. The final round of seat allotment will be announced on July 29, while admissions under the third round will continue until August 1.
