CM Mohan Majhi Reviews Security Preparedness Ahead of PM Modi and President Murmu’s Odisha Visit
Bhubaneswar, June 16: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday conducted a comprehensive review of security and administrative arrangements in preparation for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu to Mayurbhanj district. The high-profile visit is expected to draw large crowds and significant public attention, prompting the state government to strengthen security measures and logistical planning.
During a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister directed officials from various departments to ensure flawless coordination and effective implementation of all arrangements. He emphasized that the visit of the country’s top leaders is a matter of pride for Odisha and should be managed with the highest standards of efficiency and security.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on preparations related to security deployment, traffic regulation, crowd management, healthcare services, emergency response mechanisms, and public convenience facilities. Majhi instructed authorities to leave no room for lapses and to maintain constant monitoring of all activities associated with the visit.
The Prime Minister and the President are expected to participate in a major public programme in Rairangpur, located in Mayurbhanj district. The event is likely to coincide with celebrations marking two years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha. Thousands of people are expected to attend the programme, making extensive planning essential for its smooth execution.
To ensure foolproof security, Odisha Police and other security agencies have intensified surveillance across the district. Senior police officials have already conducted inspections of the event venue, designated helipads, accommodation facilities, and travel routes that will be used by the visiting dignitaries. Special attention is being given to vulnerable locations and areas requiring enhanced security coverage.
Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania has personally reviewed the preparedness measures and instructed officers to maintain strict vigilance throughout the visit. Intelligence gathering activities have been stepped up, while security checks are being conducted at strategic locations. Border surveillance has also been strengthened along the district’s boundaries with neighboring states to prevent any untoward incidents.
Authorities have further announced restrictions on drone operations in and around the programme venues. The district administration has designated key areas as “No Drone Zones” and “No Flying Zones” during the VVIP visit. Officials have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating these directives.
The state administration is also focusing on public convenience by arranging drinking water facilities, medical assistance centers, sanitation services, and adequate parking spaces. Traffic management plans are being finalized to minimize inconvenience to local residents and visitors.
President Droupadi Murmu, who hails from Mayurbhanj district, is expected to arrive a day before the Prime Minister’s visit. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the main event and may also visit locations associated with the President’s early life and educational background.
With preparations entering the final phase, the Odisha government remains committed to ensuring a secure, well-organized, and memorable visit for both dignitaries while showcasing the state’s administrative capabilities.
