Royal Challengers Bengaluru Retain IPL Crown with Dominant Final Victory

Ahmedabad, May 31: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) successfully defended their Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. The victory marked Bengaluru’s second consecutive IPL championship, cementing their place among the most successful franchises in recent IPL history.

Chasing a target of 156 runs, RCB displayed composure and confidence throughout their innings, reaching 161 for 5 in just 18 overs. Veteran batter Virat Kohli once again emerged as the hero for his side, remaining unbeaten on 75 runs off 42 deliveries. Kohli’s innings was filled with elegant stroke play and calm decision-making under pressure. He fittingly finished the match with a towering six, sparking celebrations among players and fans alike.

Earlier in the evening, Gujarat Titans struggled to gain momentum after being asked to bat first. Bengaluru’s disciplined bowling attack kept the Titans’ batting lineup under constant pressure, restricting them to 155 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. While a few Gujarat batters contributed valuable runs, none were able to produce the kind of innings required to set a challenging total in a high-stakes final.

RCB’s bowlers executed their plans effectively, maintaining tight lines and lengths while regularly picking up wickets. Their ability to prevent boundaries during crucial phases of the innings played a significant role in limiting Gujarat’s score. The bowling unit’s collective effort provided Bengaluru’s batters with a manageable target and laid the foundation for the successful chase.

The final brought together the two best-performing teams of the season and attracted enormous interest from cricket fans across the country. Gujarat Titans entered the match hoping to secure another IPL title, while Bengaluru aimed to continue the momentum built from their championship-winning campaign the previous year.

As the chase progressed, Bengaluru’s experienced players ensured that the required run rate remained under control. Kohli received valuable support from the middle order, allowing the team to steadily move toward victory. Despite a few late wickets, RCB never appeared to lose control of the contest.

The triumph holds special significance for Virat Kohli, who has been associated with the franchise since the inception of the IPL. After finally helping Bengaluru secure their maiden title in 2025, Kohli has now played a key role in guiding the team to back-to-back championships. His leadership and consistency have become central to the franchise’s recent success.

Following the victory, celebrations erupted across Bengaluru as fans gathered in large numbers to mark the historic achievement. Social media platforms were flooded with congratulatory messages, videos, and images of jubilant supporters celebrating the team’s success.

With two consecutive IPL titles now in their trophy cabinet, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have firmly established themselves as one of the dominant forces in Indian cricket. The successful title defense is expected to be remembered as another landmark chapter in the franchise’s journey and a testament to the team’s determination, consistency, and championship-winning mentality.
