Father allegedly kills son over family dispute in Angul

Bhubaneswar, May 13: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his own son following a family dispute in Arkil village under Rengali Dam Site police station limits in Odisha’s Angul district. Police on Wednesday said three members of the family have been detained in connection with the case.

The deceased has been identified as Kuja Behera, while the accused father is Muralidhar Behera. According to reports, tension had been brewing within the family over certain domestic issues. The situation reportedly turned violent after a heated argument broke out between the father and son.

Police suspect that Muralidhar Behera attacked and killed his son in a fit of rage. In an attempt to conceal the crime, he allegedly carried the body to a nearby forest area and buried it secretly.

The incident came to light after Kuja Behera went missing, prompting concern among relatives and villagers. A search operation was launched, and after nearly six days, the victim’s body was recovered from the forest.

Following the recovery of the body, police intensified the investigation and detained the accused father along with the deceased’s mother and first wife for questioning regarding their possible involvement or knowledge about the crime.

Police officials said the exact motive behind the murder is being investigated. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation into the case is underway.
