Nishad Kumar strikes gold at Asian Para Games

New Delhi, Oct 23; Nishad Kumar soared to a magnificent victory, clinching the gold medal for India and setting a new Asian Games record in the Men’s High Jump T47 at the 4th Asian Para Games 2022.
Nishad's incredible performance saw him achieve a remarkable jump of 2.02 meters, securing the top spot on the podium. In a closely contested event, China's Hongjie Chen claimed the silver medal with a jump of 1.94 meters, sharing the second-place podium with India's Ram Pal, who also earned a silver medal after achieving the same height in his fifth attempt.
Furthermore, Indian para-athlete Monu Ghangas delivered a sensational performance in the Men’s Shot Put-F-11 final, securing a well-deserved bronze medal. Monu achieved a season-best throw of 12.33 meters during his fourth attempt, landing him a spot on the prestigious podium.
In athletics, Shailesh Kumar (1.82m), Mariyappan Thangavelu (1.80m), and Ram Singh Padhiyar (1.78m) showcased their prowess in the Men’s High Jump-T63 event, capturing the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, in a memorable display of their athletic talents.
