Private Bus Owners' Association ends strike, bus service resume

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: the All Odisha Private Bus Owners' Association (AOPBOA) has decided to terminate their indefinite strike following a meeting with Transport Minister Tukuni Sahi.
The AOPBOA secretary, Debendra Sahu said that that they have opted to suspend the strike until October 31. This decision emerged after their discussion with the Transport Minister.
Sahu went on to explain that, with the strike officially called off, private bus owners can now promptly reinstate their services throughout the state to ensure the convenience of passengers.
Transport Minister Tukuni Sahi, in an earlier statement, confirmed the AOPBOA's commitment to ending the strike and cooperating with the government to resume services. She also stated that further discussions with the association will be held on October 26.
The strike had paralyzed bus services across Odisha since the morning, with approximately 17,000 private buses staying off the roads in response to the AOPBOA's decision to strike. This disruption left bus stands and stops deserted, causing considerable inconvenience to passengers during the Dussehra festival.
