Youth suspected to have jumped into Baitarani River in Bhadrak
Bhubaneswar, April 15: A young man is suspected to have jumped into the Baitarani River from a bridge in the Chandabali area of Bhadrak district on Tuesday night, prompting an intensive search operation.
The missing youth has been identified as Jayarath Mallick, a resident of Baradia village under Rajkanika police limits in Kendrapara district. According to reports, he had left his home in the evening but failed to return, causing concern among his family members.
During their search, the family discovered his shoes and mobile phone abandoned on the bridge over the river, raising strong suspicion that he may have taken the extreme step of jumping into the water.
On receiving information, fire service personnel along with police teams from Chandabali police station rushed to the spot and launched a search and rescue operation in the river. Efforts are ongoing to trace the youth, though no trace had been found till the latest reports.
The exact reason behind the suspected incident remains unclear. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation while continuing the search operation.
