IMD issues 7-day yellow warning for Odisha; heatwave to intensify in interior regions
Bhubaneswar, April 13: The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for the next seven days across several districts of Odisha, cautioning residents about rising temperatures and uncomfortable weather conditions.
While coastal districts are expected to experience persistent hot and humid weather, western and interior parts of the state are likely to face intensifying heatwave conditions as the week progresses.
According to the forecast, hot and humid conditions will dominate coastal districts such as Puri, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam on April 13 and 14.
From April 15 onwards, heatwave conditions are expected to set in across interior districts including Balangir, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur, while coastal areas will continue to reel under humidity. The intensity and spread of the heatwave are likely to increase further between April 16 and April 19, affecting additional districts such as Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Nuapada, Nabarangapur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD has advised people to take necessary precautions, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and stay hydrated as temperatures are expected to remain above normal in many parts of the state.
