President Droupadi Murmu to visit Rourkela on April 21; projects worth ₹158 crore to be inaugurated
Bhubaneswar, April 13: Droupadi Murmu is set to make her maiden visit to Rourkela on April 21, where she will inaugurate multiple development projects worth ₹158 crore during her five-hour stay in the Steel City.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram shared details of the visit at a press conference in Sundargarh. The President will depart from New Delhi and arrive at Jharsuguda Airport before flying by helicopter to Rourkela, where she is expected to land at around 11:10 am and depart at 4:00 pm.
During her visit, President Murmu will inaugurate the Integrated Command and Control Centre near Panposh Hockey Chowk, built at a cost of ₹48 crore, along with a Tribal Museum constructed at ₹40 crore. She will also inaugurate a Science Park and Planetarium at BSNL Square in Chhend Colony, developed with an investment of ₹27 crore, and dedicate a Recreational Park at Koelnagar worth ₹45 crore.
The President will address a public gathering at Sector-13 Melon Padia ground, where over 10,000 students and 35 cultural troupes are expected to participate. The projects are expected to boost education, tourism, and tribal heritage preservation in the region.
