Wife among five arrested in Soumya Sagar murder case; police crack conspiracy

Bhubaneswar, April 13: In a major breakthrough in the sensational murder of Soumya Sagar, police in Jajpur district have arrested five individuals, including the victim’s wife Subhashree, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind the crime.

According to police sources, Soumya Sagar was shot by unidentified assailants on April 6 near the Kalimegha area of Jajpur. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed while undergoing treatment. What initially appeared to be a case of attack by unknown miscreants has now taken a dramatic turn with the revelation of a planned conspiracy.

Investigations revealed that Subhashree had allegedly orchestrated the murder with the help of hired associates. Acting on leads, police apprehended five accused persons and intensified the probe to uncover the full extent of the plot.

In a crucial development, the police recovered the firearm used in the murder from the banks of the Baitarani River, located behind Jajati Keshari College. The recovery is expected to strengthen the case against the accused.

Police also conducted a crime scene reconstruction with the arrested individuals to piece together the sequence of events. Further investigation is currently underway.
