BSE extends OTET 2026 application deadline to May 9

Bhubaneswar, April 10: The Board of Secondary Education Odisha has extended the last date for submitting online applications for the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 by one month, offering relief to thousands of aspirants across Odisha.

Candidates can now apply till May 9, 2026. The original deadline was April 9, but many applicants were unable to complete the process within the stipulated time. Considering this, the Board decided to extend the application window to ensure wider participation.

Sources indicate that more than 70,000 candidates have already applied for the examination, including a significant number of in-service teachers. With the extended deadline, officials expect the total number of applications to cross one lakh, reflecting high interest in the eligibility test.

The OTET is a compulsory eligibility examination for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to VIII in government and private schools in Odisha. The exam is likely to be conducted on May 29, 2026.

Candidates are advised to complete their application and payment process through the official BSE websites well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
