Srimandira Ratna Bhandar reopens; external inventory begins
Bhubaneswar, April 9: The Ratna Bhandar of Shree Jagannath Temple reopened today as authorities commenced the next phase of the ongoing inventory process, focusing on the external chamber of the treasury.
According to reports, the second phase will involve detailed counting and documentation of valuables stored in the outer chamber. Officials informed that around 20 percent of the inventory work was completed yesterday. The process will continue for four days this week and another four days next week to ensure thorough verification.
While temple rituals will continue as usual, certain arrangements have been made for devotees. Access to darshan from the ‘Bhitara Katha’ has been restricted during the inventory process. Devotees will instead have darshan from the ‘Bahara Katha’ to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise.
Authorities are using photography, videography, and 3D mapping to document the entire inventory process. The findings will be compared with the 1978 records before preparing a comprehensive list.
The inventory is expected to be completed before the annual Snana Yatra, after which the internal treasury will be taken up in the next phase.
