Low-pressure area forms in Bay of Bengal, expected to develop into depression by October 23

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: A low-pressure system has emerged in the southwest and adjacent southeast regions of the Bay of Bengal, and it is anticipated to further develop into a depression in the west-central Bay of Bengal around October 23, as per the latest report from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the morning bulletin, "In response to the cyclonic circulation in the southeast Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has materialized in the southwestern and adjoining southeastern Bay of Bengal. It is expected to escalate into a depression in the west-central Bay of Bengal by October 23."
The IMD has issued a weather forecast indicating the likelihood of light to moderate rain or thundershowers in several areas, including Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and isolated places in other coastal districts of Odisha, as well as Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput on October 23.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal from October 20-23 and westcentral Bay of Bengal from October 21 onwards. Photo source -Mcbbsr
