Youth shot dead in Jajpur; police launch probe into late-night firing
Bhubaneswar, April 7: A young man was shot dead in a late-night firing incident in Jajpur, triggering panic and tension in the locality.
The incident took place near the Kalimegha area, where unidentified assailants reportedly opened fire at the victim, identified as Soumya Ranjan Samal of Kuansarpur. He sustained critical bullet injuries and was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur for treatment.
Due to the severity of his condition, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The attackers managed to flee from the scene after carrying out the shooting. The exact motive behind the crime and the identity of those involved remain unclear at this stage.
Police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation. A scientific team visited the crime scene and conducted a forensic examination to collect evidence.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear in the area. Police have intensified patrolling and are working to identify the culprits and establish the circumstances leading to the fatal attack.
