Two ambulance drivers arrested for alleged gang rape in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: A shocking crime has shaken Bhubaneswar, where two ambulance drivers have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a woman who had sought help while returning from a hospital. The incident has raised serious concerns over safety in the capital city.
According to reports, the victim, a resident of West Bengal, had come to the city to accompany a relative for treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. After completing her visit, she was waiting for an auto-rickshaw to reach the railway station when the accused approached her.
The two men, posing as helpers, offered her a lift in an ambulance, claiming they would drop her safely. However, instead of taking her to the station, they allegedly drove her to a secluded forest area under Tamando police limits and committed the crime.
Following the victim’s complaint, police launched a swift investigation and arrested the accused, identified as Bichitra Sahu and Narayan Swain from Nayagarh. Both were working with a private ambulance service.
Police officials have assured strict action, and further investigation into the case is currently underway.
