Youth attempts suicide atop police station in Cuttack; rescued in critical condition
Bhubaneswar, Mar 23: A dramatic incident unfolded in Cuttack on Monday morning when a youth allegedly attempted suicide by climbing onto the rooftop of Mangalabag Police Station, triggering panic among locals and officials.
According to reports, the youth climbed onto the building and initially slit his hand before attempting to hang himself using a piece of cloth tied to a cable wire. The alarming situation drew immediate attention, prompting swift action from emergency responders.
Upon receiving information, teams from Odisha Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation. After a tense effort, the youth was safely brought down from the rooftop.
He was immediately shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition, where he is currently undergoing treatment under close medical supervision.
Police officials stated that the identity of the youth has not yet been confirmed, and the exact reason behind the suicide attempt remains unclear. Authorities are investigating the incident and trying to ascertain the circumstances that led to the extreme step.
