Bhubaneswar, Mar 16: The Higher Education Department, Odisha has extended the deadline for submitting applications for the Common Postgraduate Entrance Test (CPET) to March 18, 2026, giving students additional time to complete the process for postgraduate admissions.

According to an official notification issued by the department, the earlier deadline for submitting applications was March 15. However, considering requests from students and to ensure wider participation, authorities decided to extend the date. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) Odisha portal until 11:45 PM on March 18.

The CPET is a mandatory entrance examination for students seeking admission to postgraduate programmes for the 2026–27 academic session in various universities and colleges across Odisha. The entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted between April 27 and May 10, 2026. Admissions to postgraduate courses will be based on the marks secured by candidates in the entrance test.

Students have been advised to carefully fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) through the SAMS portal before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.

The department also informed that the CAF edit option will be activated on March 19 from 11:00 AM. This will allow applicants to review and make necessary corrections in their submitted forms, if required, before the admission process moves to the next stage.
