IMD issues yellow warning for thunderstorms in several Odisha districts
Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts of Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds at isolated places over the next few days.
According to the regional weather office, thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching 30–40 kmph are likely to occur tomorrow in districts including Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. These districts have been placed under a yellow alert due to the possibility of sudden weather changes and strong winds.
The IMD has also predicted similar weather conditions on March 13, when thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of up to 30–40 kmph are expected again in Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. Authorities have advised residents in these areas to remain cautious and stay updated on weather alerts.
In addition, the weather department has warned that isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds may occur in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak on March 16.
The IMD has urged residents to take necessary precautions, avoid outdoor activities during storms, and secure loose objects that could be blown away by strong winds.
