Speeding bike claims life of first-year ayurvedic medical student in Balangir
Bhubaneswar, Mar 9: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a first-year medical student from the Government Ayurvedic College in Balangir, who succumbed to her injuries on Monday while undergoing treatment. The incident has left the college community in shock and triggered protests among students.
According to reports, the accident occurred on Saturday when Simran Sarangi, a resident of Koraput and a first-year student at the Ayurvedic College, was hit by a speeding motorcycle outside the college campus. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the young student critically injured on the spot.
Following the accident, Simran was immediately rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of her condition, doctors later referred her to Bargarh Bikash Hospital for advanced care. Despite all medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
After receiving a complaint from the college principal, Town Police launched an investigation into the incident and detained the biker allegedly responsible for the crash.
Meanwhile, the death of the young student has cast a pall of gloom over the Government Ayurvedic College. Fellow students staged protests and blocked a nearby road, demanding strict action and improved safety measures near the campus.
