Odisha to disburse ₹5,000 crore to women under Subhadra Yojana on March 8
Bhubaneswar, Mar 7: The Government of Odisha will distribute ₹5,000 crore to over 1.02 crore women beneficiaries under the fourth installment of the Subhadra Yojana on March 8, marking International Women’s Day.
The distribution programme will be held at Talabania in Puri district. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida will announce the release of funds, while Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will also attend the event.
According to Parida, the government has received around 1.12 crore applications for the scheme, of which more than 1.02 crore eligible women will receive financial assistance in this installment. She described the initiative as a major step towards strengthening the economic and social empowerment of women across the state.
As part of the celebrations organised by the Women and Child Development Department, outstanding beneficiaries will also be honoured during the event.
Parida further stated that 2.13 lakh new beneficiaries have been added in this cycle, while 36,385 women will receive benefits through the grievance redressal process. Women turning 21 are enrolled annually, while those turning 60 are shifted to the pension system.
