Odisha economy nears ₹10 lakh crore mark; growth outpaces national average
Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: The size of Odisha’s economy, measured by Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at current prices, is estimated at ₹9.9 lakh crore in 2025–26, registering a 9.5% rise from ₹9 lakh crore in 2024–25. The figures were released in the Odisha Economic Survey 2025–26 by the Planning & Convergence Department ahead of the Annual Budget presentation.
The survey projects robust real economic growth of 7.9% in 2025–26, improving on 7.2% recorded last year and surpassing the national average of 7.4%. Growth momentum was supported by contributions from all sectors and rising public and private investments.
Per capita income increased by 9.2% to ₹1,86,761, growing faster than the national rise of 6.9% and narrowing the gap with the all-India average. Labour indicators also improved significantly. The Labour Force Participation Rate (15+) climbed to 64.5% in 2024 from 58.1% in 2022, while female participation surged to 48.7%, well above the national figure.
Agriculture and allied sectors, contributing 19.6% to the economy, grew 5.3%. Foodgrain production touched a record 150.5 lakh metric tonnes, with paddy procurement reaching 92.6 lakh MT from nearly 20 lakh farmers. Industry contributed 41.3% to GSVA, growing 6.4%, led by strong manufacturing expansion.
