Sex racket busted in Khordha; eight including kingpin, three women arrested
Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: In a late-night crackdown, police unearthed a sex racket operating from a rented house in the Bikash Nagar area of Khordha town and arrested eight persons, including the alleged kingpin, three women and four customers.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a joint team from Khordha Model Police Station and the Special Squad conducted a surprise raid at the premises, where the illegal trade was reportedly being run for the past several days. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Crime Branch and Special Squad in-charge Ravi Narayan Bhanj.
During the raid, police caught the suspected mastermind from the spot. Three women, believed to have been forced or lured into the flesh trade, were rescued, while four customers present inside the house were also detained.
Sources said the racket was functioning discreetly from the rented accommodation, raising little suspicion in the neighbourhood. Police had mounted surveillance after receiving credible inputs about the activities.
All the arrested persons are being interrogated to trace possible links, identify other associates and determine the scale of the operation. Further investigation is in progress.
