Special Intensive Revision of voter list to begin in Odisha from April
Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: Odisha is set to undertake a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of its electoral rolls starting April, aiming to update, verify and correct the state’s voter list ahead of future elections.
At present, the Election machinery is engaged in the voter mapping process, matching data from the 2002 SIR list with the 2025 voter list. Reports indicate that nearly 80% of voters have already been mapped, and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office is targeting completion of the exercise by the end of this month. Public awareness advertisements have also been issued to inform voters about the process.
The SIR exercise is currently being conducted in 12 states, with Odisha’s last revision held in 2002. Voters can verify their names in both the 2002 and 2025 lists through the Election Commission of India website or the ECI Net mobile app, and may contact Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or call the helpline 1950 for assistance.
Once the revision begins, BLOs will conduct door-to-door verification. Claims and objections will be invited later, and officials have assured that no eligible Indian voter will be excluded.
