Man stabbed to death in Rourkela toilet
Bhubaneswar, Feb 7: A 38-year-old man was allegedly murdered in a brutal knife attack inside a public toilet near Amar Bhawan under Plantsite police station limits in Rourkela on Friday evening, sending shockwaves through the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Abinash Yadav, a resident of Gopabandhupalli. According to preliminary reports, Yadav had gone to the toilet between 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm when three unidentified miscreants reportedly stormed inside and attacked him with sharp weapons.
Hearing commotion, locals rushed to the spot and found Yadav critically injured. He was immediately rescued and shifted to the Rourkela Government Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, confirming that he had sustained fatal stab injuries.
Police personnel soon reached the crime scene and began an investigation. Though the attackers fled after committing the crime, efforts are underway to identify and apprehend them. Till the filing of the last report, no concrete leads had been established regarding the perpetrators.
Investigators suspect that past rivalry or personal enmity could be the possible motive behind the gruesome killing, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. A forensic team has examined the spot and collected evidence to aid the ongoing probe as police intensify the manhunt.
