Schools in Jajpur to remain closed on Feb 3 ahead of President Murmu’s temple visit
Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: All schools in Jajpur town will remain closed on February 3 in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled visit to the historic Biraja Temple, according to a notification issued by the District Education Officer (DEO). The holiday will apply to all schools within the municipal limits as well as nearby towns, following directions from the District Collector. The Block Education Officer (BEO) has formally announced the closure.
President Murmu is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar on Monday and stay overnight. On February 3, she will proceed to Jajpur, where she will offer prayers at the revered Maa Biraja Temple and perform pindadan rituals for her ancestors. She is scheduled to spend over one and a half hours at the temple before leaving for Balasore.
In Balasore, the President will attend the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University and interact with graduating students. Later in the evening, she will reach Puri and stay overnight. On February 4, she will be welcomed at the Singhadwara of the Shree Jagannath Temple by the Gajapati Maharaja and temple officials. After darshan, she will perform pindadan at Swetaganga.
The same day, President Murmu will travel to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj to address a public gathering and inaugurate development projects. Her itinerary also includes a visit to Similipal Tiger Reserve, where she will interact with tribal women and youth, highlighting community engagement and inclusive development. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Bhubaneswar, with traffic restrictions imposed along her travel routes.
