Domestic help found dead at Minister’s official residence in Bhubaneswar, probe launched
Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: A 46-year-old domestic help was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the official residence of Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra in Bhubaneswar, triggering an official investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Shankarshan Nag, a resident of the Belpada area in Balangir district. According to sources, Nag had been working as a domestic help for the minister’s family for the past several months and was staying within the premises of the official residence.
The incident came to light on Thursday when other staff members noticed Nag lying unconscious in one of the rooms of the residence. He was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital for emergency medical attention. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
Following the incident, police registered an unnatural death case and initiated an inquiry to determine the exact cause of death. Senior police officials said all possible angles are being examined as part of the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that electrocution could be a possible cause of death, though this has not yet been confirmed. Police officials stated that the exact reason behind Nag’s death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem examination report is received.
Meanwhile, the incident has raised concerns, and authorities have assured a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.
