Youth Congress leader Rajesh Mishra found dead at home in Sonepur, police probe underway
Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: In a tragic incident, Subarnapur district Youth Congress leader Rajesh Mishra was found dead at his residence in Bhagabati Nagar area of Subarnapur town late Tuesday night. According to preliminary information, Mishra allegedly died by suicide after suffering a gunshot injury to the head around 1 am. He reportedly used his licensed revolver in the incident.
Family members and neighbours were alerted by the sound of the gunshot and immediately informed the police. A team from the local police station rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Officials said a forensic team from Balangir is expected to visit the scene to collect evidence and assist in the investigation.
Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident, and further inquiries are underway. Rajesh Mishra was known for his friendly and approachable nature. He had recently been appointed as the treasurer of the Congress party and had held several important positions in the district Congress committee.
His sudden death has cast a pall of gloom over the district Congress unit and the town, with party workers and residents expressing deep shock and grief.
