Temperatures rise across Odisha, coastal areas warmer by 3°C, interior regions by up to 7°C
Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: Odisha is witnessing a noticeable rise in temperatures over the past four days, with coastal areas recording an increase of around 3°C and interior regions experiencing a sharper jump of up to 7°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The change in weather conditions has brought mild relief from the recent chill, but has also raised concerns among residents.
As per IMD data recorded at 5:30 am today, several districts reported significant temperature hikes. Jharsuguda registered 14°C, marking a steep rise of 7.2°C. Keonjhar recorded 14.6°C, up by 5.2°C, while the state capital Bhubaneswar also touched 14.6°C, reflecting an increase of 2.2°C.
Coastal regions have also seen a steady warming trend. Paradip recorded 15.4°C, up by 3°C, while Balasore stood at 16°C, registering a similar rise. Chandbali witnessed a 4°C jump to 16.2°C. Gopalpur recorded 16.8°C, an increase of 1.4°C, and Puri touched 18.4°C, up by 2.4°C.
IMD officials attributed the temperature rise to the impact of active western disturbances influencing the region’s weather patterns.
