Home guard arrested in Khordha for smuggling seized liquor and firecrackers

Khordha, Oct 15: A home guard found himself behind bars after being apprehended while attempting to smuggle liquor and firecrackers seized from different locations within the Begunia police station in Khordha district.
The home guard identified as Prakash Muduli, was taken into custody, along with the driver of the vehicle used for transporting the confiscated firecrackers and liquor.
Reports indicate that the Begunia police executed a substantial seizure of firecrackers in Kantabada village during a thorough raid. Simultaneously, on the same day, another incident occurred where the police impounded liquor from a vehicle involved in series accident near the Mini Stadium. Tragically, one person lost their life in the accident.
However, Muduli's illicit activities were interrupted by local residents who discovered him in the act of smuggling the seized firecrackers and alcohol. The community raised concerns, alleging the potential involvement of the police in this smuggling operation.
An ongoing investigation is now in the hands of an Additional Superintendent of Police and a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO).
