Two arrested for alleged gang-rape of minor in Dhauli, third accused yet to be nabbed
Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: A shocking incident of sexual violence has come to light under the Dhauli police limits, where a minor girl was allegedly gangraped on the banks of the Daya river in the presence of her male friend. The incident reportedly occurred on December 10, sending shockwaves across the capital region.
According to reports, the minor girl and her male friend had gone to the riverbank area when they were intercepted by two miscreants, who later called in others. The accused allegedly demanded money from the duo. When the boy refused, he was dragged to a secluded spot and brutally assaulted with sharp weapons and stones, leaving him injured and helpless.
Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly gangraped the minor girl. It is further alleged that the perpetrators recorded the crime on their mobile phones and threatened the victim with severe consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Acting swiftly, the Commissionerate Police have arrested two accused in connection with the case. They have been identified as Bibhuprasad Mishra of Banki in Cuttack district and Kalandi Patra of Olatpur. Police are conducting raids to trace and arrest the remaining accused.
The victim’s statement has been recorded, and a detailed investigation is underway. The Commissionerate Police have assured strict action and said all efforts are being made to ensure justice for the survivor.
