BSE Odisha to conduct OTET exam on December 17; over 1.6 lakh candidates to appear

Bhubaneswar, Dec 11: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha will conduct the Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) on December 17 across the state. A total of 1,60,379 candidates—including both in-service teachers and fresh aspirants—are set to appear for the examination. BSE President Srikant Tarai shared details of the arrangements on Thursday.

The OTET will be held in two papers. As per official data, 47,720 candidates have registered for Paper 1, while a significantly larger group of 1,12,659 candidates will take Paper 2, which qualifies candidates to teach upper primary classes.

To ensure a transparent and smooth examination process, the board has established 452 exam centres statewide. All centres have been equipped with CCTV-enabled systems, with live monitoring to be done from the BSE command control room.

Security has been tightened to prevent any malpractice. Question papers and OMR sheets will be dispatched to DG locker systems starting December 14. They will then be transported through 39 designated routes covering all 30 districts of Odisha under the escort of armed police personnel.

The BSE has urged candidates to adhere to the guidelines and reach their centres well in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
