Plus II student critically injured after being stabbed on Mayurbhanj college campus
Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: A Plus II student of BB College at Baigana Badia in Mayurbhanj district was critically injured after being stabbed by a fellow student inside the campus on Monday, triggering tension and protests in the locality.
The victim, identified as Prahalad Bindhani, was initially taken to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada. However, his condition worsened due to severe stab injuries and internal bleeding, prompting doctors to shift him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. Hospital sources said his condition remains extremely critical.
The stabbing incident has sparked widespread outrage among locals and students, who staged a protest in front of the college demanding immediate action against the accused and enhanced security on the campus. The college gate was locked following the unrest, and academic activities were disrupted as tension escalated in the area.
Meanwhile, Kuliana police have detained the accused student and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Police officials assured that strict action will be taken after the inquiry, as the community continues to demand justice for the injured student.
