IMD issues yellow warning for cold wave and dense fog in several Odisha districts till December 12
Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning, forecasting cold wave conditions and dense fog across multiple districts of Odisha until December 12. With temperatures continuing to dip, residents have been advised to brace for a sharp chill and reduced visibility during morning hours.
According to the IMD, dense fog is likely on December 9 and 10 at one or two places in Sundargarh and Kandhamal districts. This may lead to poor visibility, causing inconvenience for commuters and early morning travelers.
Alongside foggy conditions, cold wave conditions are expected to prevail in isolated pockets of Sundargarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda on December 9 and 10. The cold wave pattern is projected to intensify further as it spreads to additional districts.
From December 11 to 12, the chill is likely to cover Kalahandi, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput, Sonepur, and Cuttack, apart from the districts already under warning. The IMD forecast for December 12 clearly states that cold wave conditions may affect pockets across all these regions.
Authorities have urged people to take precautionary measures, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. Residents have also been advised to exercise caution while travelling during foggy mornings, as low visibility could pose risks.
