Woman allegedly kills infant daughter amid family dispute in Puri; police launch manhunt
Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: In a deeply disturbing incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her mother at Sadangoi village under Delang police station limits on Friday.
The tragedy came to light when villagers spotted the child’s body floating in a nearby pond and immediately informed the police. Shocked locals gathered at the site as Delang police, accompanied by the Pipili SDPO, reached the spot and initiated an inquiry.
Preliminary reports suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a heated domestic altercation between the child’s parents, Subash Baral and his wife, just a day before the tragedy.
Family members revealed that the woman had been under severe mental stress due to frequent disputes within the household. Her mother further claimed that she had been subjected to constant harassment by her in-laws, which may have pushed her into a state of emotional turmoil.
However, in a contrasting statement, Subash Baral denied the allegations of harassment and instead accused his wife of deliberately killing their daughter. Following the incident, the woman has gone absconding, and police have launched a search operation to trace her. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the exact motive behind the shocking act.
