Jajpur Police bust inter-district robbery gang; 14 arrested, stolen gold, silver & cash recovered
Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: In a significant breakthrough, Jajpur Police have arrested 14 members of a notorious inter-district robbery gang that had been instilling fear across Jajpur and neighbouring regions. The gang is believed to be involved in more than 30 robbery cases, primarily targeting homes during late-night hours. During the operation, police recovered Rs 6 lakh in cash, 230 grams of gold ornaments, 2.5 kilograms of silver, and several deadly weapons used in the crimes.
The crackdown was carried out under a special operation titled “Night Sweeper”, launched under the leadership of Jajpur SP Yas Pratap Shrimal and guided by Central DIG Satyajit Nayak. To track down the suspects, six dedicated police teams from adjoining districts coordinated extensive raids over a span of 50 days. Their sustained efforts led to the arrest of the accused, who belong to Jajpur, Kendrapara, Puri, and Cuttack districts.
Police officials stated that the arrests mark a major step toward curbing organised crime in the region. Central DIG Satyajit Nayak is scheduled to address a press conference at the Jajpur Police Headquarters to provide detailed insights into the operation and further investigation plans.
