35 students of Siribeda PM Shree School hospitalised after complaining of severe stomach pain
Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: In a worrying incident, 35 students from the Siribeda PM Shree School hostel in Baipariguda block of Koraput district were rushed to the hospital after they complained of intense stomach pain late on Monday evening. The students, who reside in the hostel, reportedly began experiencing discomfort shortly after having their dinner. What began with a few students soon spread through the hostel, with many children complaining of similar abdominal pain within a short span of time.
On receiving the information, school headmaster Kulamani Jena took swift action and immediately arranged three Bolero vehicles to transport the affected students to Baipariguda Hospital. Medical teams there began treating the children and monitoring their condition closely.
Meanwhile, additional medical teams from both Baipariguda and Ramgiri have been sent to the school to examine the remaining hostel students and identify the root cause of the sudden illness. Preliminary suspicion points towards possible food contamination, raising serious concerns over the quality and safety of the meals served in the hostel.
Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure such an incident does not recur and to safeguard the health of students residing in the hostel.
