IMD issues fog alert for Odisha; night temperatures to drop sharply in coming days
Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fog alert for several districts of Odisha over the next two days, alongside a prediction of a noticeable drop in night temperatures. In its latest bulletin, the IMD warned that dense fog is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh and Jharsuguda on December 2. The foggy conditions are expected to intensify and spread further on December 3, affecting Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Koraput, and Angul.
While the minimum temperature across the state is expected to remain largely unchanged for the next 48 hours, the IMD has forecast a significant fall of two to four degrees Celsius in the subsequent three days. Following this brief cold spell, temperatures are likely to stabilise as winter conditions gradually set in.
In the past 24 hours, very light to light rainfall was recorded at isolated locations across several districts, including Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda. Additionally, moderate fog was reported at one or two places in Kalahandi district, affecting early-morning visibility. The weather department has advised residents to exercise caution during travel, particularly in areas prone to dense fog.
