Man arrested for killing friend over money dispute in Mayurbhanj
Bhubaneswar, May 29: A gruesome incident unfolded in Bhurudukala village under Khunta police station limits in Mayurbhanj district, where a man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly murdering his friend following a dispute over money. The accused, identified as Mangal Murmu, and the victim, Ganesh Murmu, had reportedly gone to Badakhunta village market to sell chickens. After the sale, Mangal allegedly kept the entire amount, which sparked an argument between the two.
As per reports, the disagreement intensified as they were returning to their village. The heated exchange soon turned violent when Mangal, in a fit of rage, attacked Ganesh with bricks. The brutal assault proved fatal, and Ganesh’s body was later discovered lying along the roadside in Badakhunta village. Shocked villagers immediately alerted the police.
A team from Khunta police station rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. In a significant breakthrough, officers found a key belonging to Mangal’s motorcycle at the crime scene, which helped them track him down. The accused was subsequently arrested and is now in police custody. Police have stated that further inquiry is in progress to uncover additional details surrounding the incident.
