Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: A horrific murder has left residents of the Khunta area in Mayurbhanj district deeply shaken. Early today, the body of an unidentified youth was discovered on the Badakhunta–Balidiha Road under Khunta police limits, sparking widespread alarm in the locality.

According to preliminary reports, the victim’s face had been brutally crushed with bricks, indicating a violent assault. The nature of the injuries suggests that the youth was attacked elsewhere and his body was later dumped at the spot, although police have not ruled out the possibility of the murder taking place on the roadside itself. The gruesome manner of the killing has intensified concerns among locals, who fear rising crime in the area.

Khunta police have begun a thorough investigation and are working to confirm the identity of the victim. A forensic team has been called to the scene to collect scientific evidence that may provide clues about the nature of the attack and the possible involvement of multiple assailants.

Officers are examining the surroundings, questioning locals, and checking recent missing person reports to establish leads. The police have assured the public that all efforts are being made to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
