Security tightened ahead of Odisha Assembly’s Winter Session; President Murmu to address House
Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: The Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on November 27, and Commissionerate Police has put in place an elaborate security arrangement in anticipation of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit and address. Following the strict protocols outlined in the Bluebook, authorities have implemented a comprehensive multi-layered security plan to ensure smooth proceedings.
Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh personally reviewed the preparations on Tuesday. A robust three-tier security system will be deployed around the Assembly and surrounding areas. As many as 33 platoons of police force will be stationed, supported by striking force units, Special Tactical Unit (STU) personnel, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and Fire Services teams.
The overall security operations will be supervised by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), who will be assisted by seven Additional DCPs, 23 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 26 Inspectors, and 88 SIs and ASIs. To enhance surveillance, numerous CCTV cameras have been installed at vital points, allowing real-time monitoring of movement and crowd activity.
In addition, five temporary police control rooms have been established across key zones. Each control room will coordinate with ground teams to maintain law and order throughout the session. A total of 225 officials will remain on duty to ensure the safety, security, and smooth conduct of legislative proceedings.
