Three killed, two critically injured in tragic head-on collision on NH-16 near Cuttack
Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: In a devastating road accident on National Highway 16 near Rajakana Square in Cuttack, three people lost their lives while two others sustained critical injuries following a head-on collision between a Bolero and a tanker. The incident occurred early on Tuesday and has shocked commuters and locals alike.
According to preliminary reports, the Bolero was travelling from Sundargarh to Puri when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The SUV first rammed into the road divider before veering into the opposite lane and crashing directly into an oncoming tanker. The impact of the collision was so severe that three occupants of the Bolero died instantly, while two others were left critically injured.
Emergency response teams, including National Highway authorities and fire brigade personnel, reached the spot promptly. The injured were rescued from the mangled vehicle and shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for urgent medical treatment. Firefighters used cutters to extract the bodies of the deceased from the wreckage.
The identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Tangi police have seized both vehicles and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap. Authorities have also urged motorists to exercise caution on the busy highway.
