Tension erupts in Panikoili after death of Class XII student in hostel
Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: Tension prevailed in the Panikoili area of Jajpur district on Saturday after the mysterious death of a Class XII student triggered outrage among locals and guardians. The incident took place at a private CBSE-affiliated college located at Chhotraypur under Jajpur police limits.
The deceased, a resident of Kendutipi village in Kumbhiragadia panchayat of Danagadi block, was found hanging inside the hostel washroom late Friday night. Upon discovering the body, hostel authorities immediately alerted the police, who reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem examination.
Family members of the student have alleged foul play, claiming that he was murdered and the incident was being projected as suicide. Their allegations sparked widespread anger among locals, who gathered outside the college hostel demanding justice and accountability from the institution’s management.
As tensions escalated, clashes broke out between agitated relatives and police personnel attempting to control the situation. Police have assured a thorough investigation into the case. “We are examining all possible angles. The autopsy report will determine the actual cause of death,” said a senior police official.
