IMD issues yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in Odisha on November 1–2
Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow weather warning for several districts of Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds on November 1 and 2.
According to the IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar, on November 1, thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.
The yellow warning will remain in effect on November 2 as well, with IMD predicting similar weather conditions in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
“Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30–40 kmph are very likely at one or two places over these districts,” the forecast stated.
The IMD has urged residents to stay alert, avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorms, and take precautionary measures to prevent lightning-related incidents.
