Eminent Odia poet and BJP leader Sankarsan Parida passes away at AIIMS Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: Renowned poet and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sankarsan Parida passed away on Thursday while undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar. He was reportedly battling lung cancer for the past few months and had been shifted from Capital Hospital to AIIMS just a day earlier after his health deteriorated.
Parida, a respected figure in both political and literary circles, had served as the President of Puri Zilla Parishad and Chairman of Puri Sadar Panchayat Samiti. He also held the position of President of the BJP State Panchayatiraj Cell, where he worked tirelessly to strengthen grassroots governance and rural development initiatives.
His demise has left a deep void in Odisha’s literary and political spheres. Tributes have poured in from writers, politicians, and admirers across the state, who remembered Parida for his meaningful poetry, commitment to social causes, and dedicated service to the people of Odisha.
