Bhubaneswar Airport official arrested for allegedly deceiving air hostess, concealing marriage
Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: In a shocking incident, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Bhubaneswar Airport, Umakant Patel, has been arrested on charges of cheating and threatening an air hostess after allegedly concealing his marital status. The Airport Police booked Patel under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and he was produced before the court on Saturday.
According to reports, Patel was transferred to Bhubaneswar Airport four months ago after serving at Delhi Airport. During his posting in Delhi, he allegedly developed a romantic relationship with an air hostess working for a private airline, falsely claiming to be unmarried. Under the pretext of marriage, he reportedly established a physical relationship with her.
When the woman became pregnant, Patel allegedly forced her to undergo an abortion. Later, both were transferred to Bhubaneswar, where Patel allegedly continued his relationship. The situation escalated when the woman discovered that Patel was already married and had a child. After confronting him, she was threatened, prompting her to lodge a police complaint.
Following an investigation, Patel was arrested and booked under BNS Sections 81, 82(1), 89, 69, 115(2), 351(2), and 324(4). Legal proceedings are currently underway.
